A personal diary on my relationship with my houseplants. I consider them sentient beings, and I attempt to communicate with them, culminating in the phrase “we don’t speak the same language.” In our anthropocentric understanding, plants are lesser beings. However, using UV-activated ink, which plants can perceive but humans cannot, challenges this belief. The images are homages to beings who have come in contact with plants—from Anna Atkin’s cyanotypes to the bugs that eat the plants we grow in our homes.
